Bird G. Cross had been retired for over eighteen years from a successful practice as an anesthesiologist. During these years, he has been sculpting in various media, from copper enameling, stained glass, semi-precious and precious stones, silver and gold, to alabaster and marble.

The past eight years have been devoted to stone sculpture. He has studied under the renowned stone sculptor, Ante Marinovic, and Madeline Wiener of the Marble Institute of Colorado.

Having moved from the unknown to the known, Bird Cross's sculptures are more relationships than representations--connections between the idea and image--resulting in a powerful honesty true to both the stone and his vision.
